Witam. Otóż przed aktualizacją ubuntu 10.04 zaraz po instalacji nie updatowałem systemu. Wszystko działało jak należy sieć itd. a dzisiaj postanowiłem włączyć update i po restacie komputera w ubuntu nie mam ikonki wybierania połączenia ta u góry obok daty. Proszę o pomoc

O to chodziło?
Niestety nie nic to nie pomogło ikonki dalej nie ma 
chodzi mi o ta ikonkę: 
tzn. na tym obrazku jest akurat sieć offline ale chodzi mi o ta ikonkę od sieci ogólnie.
Upewnij się, że masz włączone System → Preferencje → Programy startowe → Menedżer sieci.
Sprawdź czy jest uruchomiony proces nm-applet. Jeśli nie, spróbuj uruchomić nm-applet.
Mam włączone, mimo to nadal nie działa 
Czyli proces nm-applet jest uruchomiony, tyko brak ikonki? Poza tym połączenie z internetem masz?
Właśnie nie mam połączenia. Przed aktualizacją systemu wszystko śmigało supcio a jak uruchomiłem ponownie kompa po aktualizacji to kapa ;/
Czy “kapa” oznacza, że proces nm-applet nie jest uruchomiony? Bo doprawdy nie potrafię się domyśleć.
aha i dodam że ja mam sieć lan czyli kablem ethernowym od routera
Żeby zobaczyć czy jest uruchomiony nm-applet otwórz System → Administracj → Monitor Systemu → Procesy. Jeśli nie jest uruchomiony, to spróbuj uruchomić.
Tak jest uruchomiony sprawdzałem, kurcze dziwna sprawa
Pokaż co się aktualizowało przed tym, gdy pojawiły się problemy (Synaptic → Plik → Historia). Pokaż wynik ifconfig.

O tą ikonkę mi chodzi, zresztą chyba wiesz : 
Słuchaj mogę jeszcze raz zainstalować ubuntu tylko mogę zainstalować na to co mam teraz ? czy muszę jakos formatowac itd. ?
Ale to nie jest rozwiązanie problemu, nawet w Windowsie. Na początek spróbuj ubić proces nm-applet i uruchomić aplet jeszcze raz w terminalu i jeśli pojawią się jakieś błędy, to wklej je tutaj na forum.
Ubij proces poleceniem:
kill -kill $(ps -e | grep nm-applet | awk '{print $1}')
Potem uruchom poleceniem (zakładam, że adresy IP dostajesz z serwera DHCP):
nm-applet
Żeby mieć ogólnie połączenie z internetem, to wykonaj po prostu polecenie:
sudo dhclient eth0
lub eth1 zależy, z której karty sieciowej korzystasz ale jak dasz samo sudo dhclient, to program sobie znajdzie, która karta jest podłączona do sieci.

No i zainstalowałem jeszcze raz ubuntu i wszystko dziala 
widocznie coś poknociłęm wcześniej. Ale i tak dzięki Wam wielkie za pomoc.
