Jak zainstalować Firefoksa na Ubuntu 10.04?

Mam problem z zainstalowaniem programy Mozilla Firefox. Czytałem w necie robię tak jak było napisane na jednym z forów. Dodam że mam Linuksa Ubuntu 10.04 UTS od wczoraj. Wielkie POMOCY!

Odpal plik firefox znajdujący się w wypakowanym archiwum -> firefox/firefox.

W gnome-termianl wpisz /home/avionun/Pobrane/firefox/firefox

Uruchamia mi moją stronę główną. A ja chciałem go zaktualizować.

Firefoxa zainstalujesz i zaktualizujesz przez menedżera pakietów - Synaptic.

Właśnie to robię tylko doczepił mi jeszcze jakieś śmieci i muszę czekać aź to ściągnie( a z moim netem to widzę w czarnych barwach). Dzięki za pomoc. Po przesiadce z poczciwego Windowsa XP wydaje mi się że Linux to trochę poklecony system.Dopiero go ogarniam. A z innymi programami to jak instaluje to ./configure potem make potem instal?? (oczywiście po wypakowaniu)

Ahh i jeszcze jedno. Jak zainstalować pliki z końcówką .bin . Dodam że są to stery do kart nvidii.

Te śmieci to prawdodpobnie zależności pakietów.

Są raczej potrzebne, chociaż taki pakiet jak firefox-branding to tylko i wyłącznie pakiet “żeby fireofox był firefoxem”.

./configure make i tym podobne to samodzielna kompilacja programów ze źródeł:

Nadajesz atrybut wykonywalności:

chmod +x nazwa.bin

Będąc w katalogu z plikiem:

Wpisz w terminalu:

I masz nowego FF.

Nowy FF jest dostępny w ubuntu po paru godzinach po premierze, więc po co kompilować?

Sterowniki:

System->Administracja->Sterowniki i wyszukaj sterowniki dla siebie. Łatwiej się nie da.

Po pierwsze to co Ty próbujesz zrobić to kompilacja kodu źródłowego i późniejsza instalacja skompilowanego kodu, a to jest zbędne. Po drugie, paczka którą pobrałeś, to już skompilowany Firefox, a nie jego kod źródłowy i wystarczy go tylko uruchomić, nie trzeba go nawet instalować, zresztą instalacja to tylko skopiowanie plików w odpowiednie katalogi.

Programy instaluj przez Centrum Oprogramowania lub w terminalu odpowiednimi poleceniami. Polecam lekturę do poczytania na temat instalacji programów Ubuntu i ogólny przewodnik po tym systemie.
